Why I Built BSKT
I have been obsessed with fragrance since 2021. Not the kind of obsession that stops at a bottle or two — I mean 100+ perfumes. French maisons, Middle Eastern ouds, niche houses most people have never heard of. Fragrance, for me, is not a cosmetic. It is a language.
So when I sat in my car and lit up one of those gel tin fresheners everyone sells, the experience genuinely offended me. The scent was thin, synthetic, and sharp in all the wrong places. It smelled exactly like every public restroom I had ever walked through. On a long drive, it gave me a headache. The thing that was supposed to make my car pleasant to be in was doing the opposite.
I started looking at what was available in India. Everything was the same — disposable, synthetic, one-time-use. You buy it, it fades in a week, you throw it away and buy another. No one was asking what if you could carry your own fragrance into your car? The way you wear your personal scent on your skin, what if you could extend that into your driving space?
The answer, I realised, came from high-end perfumery itself. The best fragrance houses in the world have always offered refillable flacons. You invest in the vessel once. The fragrance is what you choose, and you can change it whenever you like. Why should a car pendant be any different?

On Fragrance Knowledge
Four years of collecting French and Middle Eastern fragrances gave Amin an unusual advantage when sourcing BSKT's complimentary 10ml fills. Every scent in the BSKT range was personally evaluated against the same standard as a fine perfume — not just whether it smells acceptable, but whether it has depth, longevity, and the ability to evolve throughout a drive.
Why India Specifically
Indian driving conditions are uniquely demanding for fragrance. Summer cabin temperatures regularly exceed 45°C. Alcohol-based fresheners evaporate completely within days. BSKT's oil-based formula was chosen precisely because fragrance oil behaves differently in heat — it releases slowly and consistently rather than burning off all at once.

The Innovation
Why the Colour?
After the refillable pendant was working well, Amin noticed something. The pendant hung from the mirror, visible every time you looked ahead. It was an object you saw every single day. It should look as good as it smelled.
The first prototypes were clear. They worked, but they were invisible. After experimenting with multiple approaches — and ruling out anything that could interact with the fragrance or harm the pendant material — food-safe colours were chosen. They blend cleanly into the fragrance oil, stay stable in heat, and give each pendant its signature jewel-like appearance.
The colour is not decoration for its own sake. It is the visual identity of the pendant — the thing that makes it instantly recognisable hanging from a rearview mirror. When you see that coloured liquid catching the light, you know it is a BSKT.
